On May 13th I gave a concert at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The concert was recorded on video for the most part, by one of my guitar students. This is the Rumba Flamenca and was originally recorded by the group Los Rumberos.

This flamenco style is known as Sevillanas and is based on a folk dance that originated in Seville -- hence the name
, as you will hear it is very upbeat and melodic, can be played purely instrumental or for accompanying the Sevillanas dancers. Three of the 4 verses or letras are recorded here.

This flamenco style is known as Taranto and is very moody and atmospheric, with great beauty in the melodies. Near the end is a switch to the form Tangos Flamencos which lifts the music out of its profundity into a more euphoric state.
